Softness is What I Seek (a poem), 10/11/11 GratianaDS90 (Post #30)

Softness is what I seek.
Against my skin, the silken draping of my robe
enfolds me in a lover’s embrace.
Smooth to my touch, I glide my hand
over my silken covering.

Light catches in the folds of
my pink silken robe.
Playing with the lines, the curves,
the sheen that is from its silken softness.

I smile at my feminine choice of pink silk.
And like silk, I am strong underneath,
The softness belying my hidden force of spirit.
Well, not hidden.
But, perhaps, disguised.

We all wear many guises in our lives.
Wife, friend, coworker, aunt, and sister
are my dominant personae.
In that order, I navigate my life,
by who I am to others.

And who I am to me is still unfolding.
Like the silken fabric draping
of the robe I wear.
Soft, womanly, sensual, tender,
kind, reflective, caring, and loving.
These words all describe me,
as I redefine them for me.

Softness is what I seek.

About Gratiana Lovelace

Gratiana Lovelace is my nom de plume for my creative writing and blogging. I write romantic stories in different sub genres. The stories just tumble out of me. My resurgence in creative writing occurred when I viewed the BBC miniseries of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel North & South in February 2010. The exquisitely talented British actor portraying the male lead John Thornton in North & South--Richard Crispin Armitage--became my unofficial muse. I have written over 50 script stories about love--some are fan fiction, but most are original stories--that I am just beginning to share with others on private writer sites, and here on my blog. And as you know, my blog here is also relatively new--since August 2011. But, I'm having fun and I hope you enjoy reading my blog essays and my stories. Cheers! Grati ;-> upd 12/18/11

Grati, it’s very beautiful. I like the sensuous touch you give to your poems too. Maybe some day we will discover a more naughty side of you? (I wonder.)
You made me think why I love to be a woman. We love unconditionally. We fight for what we believe. We bring sensibility and compassion. We can be strong despite all sweetness and fragility. And finally, sometimes chocolate is really the answer to all our problems!:D

    Hi Fabi,
Thanks for your kind note. I am a woman in all that the word implies–naughty and nice. Ha!
I love your comment descriptions of women, too.
And as it happens, I have another poem percolating about chocolate and a certain fella.
    Cheers! Grati ;->

    Hi Gratiana,
This poem looks like your portrait, soft and delicate, but at the same time with much spirit (good mood), at least the way I see.
    best regards

      Hi Ana Cris,
Thanks for your kind words. As to “delicate”–well, perhaps my sensibilities are, if not the rest of me. Ha!
By the way, your essay yesterday about the four elements of RA garnered about 148 views. Well Done!.
      Cheers! Grati ;->
