Melissa the Mouse: My Giant, 12/08/11 Gratiana Lovelace (Post #73)

I met a giant (1) once, quite by accident.
He was tall, dark, and handsome—the other humans said.
As a mouse, I couldn’t tell if he was ordinary looking or magnificent.
Since on the ground, I was too far from his head. (2 image right, puzzle)

I wouldn’t have known anyway,
If the Giant had a gaze that would smoulder.
Because as a lady mouse (3) I am not prey
To human views about male beauty–it being in the eye of the beholder.

Though human fur seems to change at whim,
Unlike my own fur that stays a soft gray.
The giant changed his fur, with his face looking a tad grim (4 image right, puzzle),
Whenever the camera was pointed his way.

But when the other humans turned their attention,
Away from him, the giant seemed to smile and shine.
Perhaps this giant failed to mention
That he is shy about being considered so fine.

In any event, our meeting was momentous,
Mostly because my presence caused a little stir.
These humans (5) looked curiously at me, the small tiny mouse.
Perhaps wondering if I were a him, or a her.

I, too, wondered about these tall men,
What did they think of poor little me?
As a mice girl, I am quite beyond their ken.
So, I let them alone–and went in search of some brie (6).

At least I (7) can say with great relief,
That my chance meeting with the giant ended well.
For it is my fervently held, lady mouse belief,
That for inter species friendships, only time will tell.

P.S.  Next week, Melissa the Mouse plans to tell of her visit to a holiday decorated place and meeting someone special.

P.S.  And just for fun because this is “Thorin Thursday” during the holiday season, here is a classic song–“Santa Baby” sung by the legendary Eartha Kitt in 1954.  And here is a fun graphic with Richard Armitage as “Thorin” as we thought we would never see him–Santa Thorin, Ha! (8 left and below)  And it contains a lovely portrait of Miss Kitt.

About Gratiana Lovelace

Gratiana Lovelace is my nom de plume for my creative writing and blogging. I write romantic stories in different sub genres. The stories just tumble out of me. My resurgence in creative writing occurred when I viewed the BBC miniseries of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel North & South in February 2010. The exquisitely talented British actor portraying the male lead John Thornton in North & South--Richard Crispin Armitage--became my unofficial muse. I have written over 50 script stories about love--some are fan fiction, but most are original stories--that I am just beginning to share with others on private writer sites, and here on my blog. And as you know, my blog here is also relatively new--since August 2011. But, I'm having fun and I hope you enjoy reading my blog essays and my stories. Cheers! Grati ;-> upd 12/18/11

    Hi Melissa the Mouse,
I too can’t say about human male beauty, they have little fur to my taste. But your Giant has got blue eyes like a Siamese cat, and his pink vestment reminded me of a yummy piece of salmon.
However, I was comfortably lying on my human’s lap when I heard her sigh: “He is simply purr-fect.” Don’t understand what she means.
I like Eartha Kitt, she played the most glamurous villain of all time: Catwoman, meow!

    • Hi Fabi the Cat,

I do like my Giant’s blue eyes–they dance with mousiement when he smiles, which is far too little due to him portraying such serious and dramatic character roles all of the time. Though I heard a tail that he also has a light touch with romantic comedy and his character did get a mice human girl once–and it was even at Christmouse time! He was in the Vicar of Mousely, I do believe–a most charming love story. Eek! Sighhhh!

Now that you mention it, my Giant’s pink fur also reminds me of salmon. You must have a very mice human to give you such treats. And Miss Kitt is lovely–I give her my highest cheese recommendation.

And my human agrees with your human about my Giant–he is eekcellent!

Yes, humans don’t have enough fur but this one has such nice friendly eyes. He looks like he would enjoy petting me like Momma’s doing now. So nice you saw him Melissa. – Patty the pom

    • Dear Patty the Pom,
Well, humans can’t have everything–they’re just “fur challenged”. Eek! I’m guessing that since the Giant didn’t squash me, he might like you, too.
At least, I’m not “averse” to meeting other humans–since my stories are in poetry form, Eek!
You and your Momma have a mice day! Holiday Cheeses! Melissa the Mouse
