Melissa the Mouse and the Holiday White House, 12/14/11 Gratiana Lovelace (Post #77)

My name is [(1) right] Melissa the Mouse,
I just visited a beautifully holiday [(2) below] decorated grand place.
It is our nation’s first home, The White House.
And within its hallowed walls, our nation’s history we can trace.

For 2011, “Shine, Give, Share”
Is the White House Holiday [(3) left]  theme.
It focuses on showing our military families and our troops that we care.
For they serve so we may live our dreams.

And for our troops coming home soon, here is Josh Groban singing “I’ll be Home for Christmas” [(4) below]

The Obamas, our President Barack and [(5) right] First Lady Michelle
Grace our nation with their service and goodwill.
The Holiday White House history they do tell,
Of past first families who have lived on the hill.

To be sure, my visit was virtually done,
The internet traveling there for me quite swiftly.
You  see, of  frequent flier miles, I have none.
And my cozy mousie nest is so nifty.

So for others who want to visit our nation’s [(6) above] first home,
Especially as the holiday decorated White House,
Here are some links for you to roam,

About Gratiana Lovelace

Gratiana Lovelace is my nom de plume for my creative writing and blogging. I write romantic stories in different sub genres. The stories just tumble out of me. My resurgence in creative writing occurred when I viewed the BBC miniseries of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel North & South in February 2010. The exquisitely talented British actor portraying the male lead John Thornton in North & South--Richard Crispin Armitage--became my unofficial muse. I have written over 50 script stories about love--some are fan fiction, but most are original stories--that I am just beginning to share with others on private writer sites, and here on my blog. And as you know, my blog here is also relatively new--since August 2011. But, I'm having fun and I hope you enjoy reading my blog essays and my stories. Cheers! Grati ;-> upd 12/18/11

    Hi Melissa the Mouse,
I think it’s very interesting and just have a little relevant question: Why a First Dog instead a First Cat???
    Meowy Christmas!

    • Hi Fabi the Grey Cat,

      As First Pets go,
Whether they be dog or cat,
It’s just that the Obamas have a Bo,
Who isn’t feline, no not that.

But I’m guessing that cats did roam
In the White House over time.
Because as the nation’s first “home”,
Cats would like it and find it sublime.

      So, dust off your fur
And get ready to virtually travel there
To the White House to be sure.
While snuggled up with your Mama’s tender loving care.

Very Micely Yours, Holiday Cheeses! Melissa the Mouse

(Melissa, if you forgive the poor rhymes:)

I was here on Mama’s lap
When I first saw the White House.
And I’m just a lucky cat
By having a friend in a mouse!
