“Miles to Go Before I Sleep”: A Lucas North/Richard Armitage Wallpaper, 2/21/12 Gratiana Lovelace (Post #136)
A Lucas North/Spooks wallpaper inspired by the poetry of Robert Frost and by the artistry of Richard Armitage’s portrayal of Lucas North in Spooks.
For Lucas North, sleep is elusive–something that cannot be summoned, the rest it provides fleeting. No longer held within prison walls, he still cannot escape them–perhaps wishing for their permanence as he tries to find his way in an unfamiliar world that almost forgot him, that did forget him. The world Lucas now inhabits upon returning home to England is deceptively open–its openness a prison cell in its own way, testing his resolve to start a new life. He is weary of holding on, of wondering what happens next. But Lucas is so practiced at it–at clinging to hope when all hope is lost–that hope does not desert him. And Lucas finds his way out of the darkness of his past torment to live in and be of the world again. And peaceful slumber will come at last.
“Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
By Robert Frost 1874–1963 Robert Frost
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”
