“Mr. Romance”, Ch. 6: Early Saturday Morning Lovemaking (R rating)
Hope awakens first around 6:00am on Saturday morning and she sees the naked Kent lying cuddled up next to her nakedness—as Hope is cuddled up to Kent’s nakedness. Hope blushes remembering their beautiful lovemaking last night–their first night of love together, and Hope’s first time making love. Hope gave herself completely to Kent last night in a beautiful dream of love and tenderness. Their lovemaking and tenderness with each other was everything that Hope has ever wished for in her love for Kent. Then she rises from their bed and puts on her nightgown and goes to the bathroom to brush her teeth and such. Upon returning to her bedroom, she sees Kent now awake and walking toward her naked. Kent’s [(2) right] handsomeness almost makes Hope swoon into a faint–just as Hope’s simple beauty and sweetness [(3) right] beguiles Kent. Kent kisses Hope lovingly while caressing the bare skin of her back underneath her nightgown. Then Kent kisses Hope tenderly as he gently lifts her nightgown up and off her body again—so that her naked body is against his naked body. Lovers delight in their nakedness with each other–especially, new lovers. Then he lifts her up in his arms and lays her in their bed and covers her with the sheet and blanket.
Kent: Kent kisses Hope again. “I’ll be right back, Hope Darling.” He says kissing her affectionately.
Kent goes into the bathroom to brush his teeth and such. Hope waits for Kent to return to her. Hope knows that she and Kent will make love again—and she is eager for Kent’s lovingly tender and intimate touches. Kent emerges from the bathroom with a new condom package hidden in his hand—having found his trousers on a hanger on the back of the bathroom door. Kent slides into bed next to Hope–placing the condom package under his pillow–then he embraces and kisses Hope tenderly.
Hope: “Oh Kent, I never dreamed that making love could be so wonderful.” She sweetly closes her eyes as she kisses him remembering their lovemaking and shared bliss.
Kent: He smiles adoringly at her. “You are so beautiful, Hope Darling. Our lovemaking last night was sweet and tender and joyous.” Kent kisses Hope again lovingly. Then he asks her tenderly–and hopefully–as he kisses and caresses her face. “Hope Dear, how are you feeling this morning?”
Hope: “I feel …” She hesitates shyly, then she says what is in her heart. “Kent, I feel so wonderful, I feel loved. I love you Kent. I have for a long time now.” She says kissing him sweetly and adoringly.
Kent: “And I love you, Hope.” Kent smiles kissing her back—really meaning what he says rather than merely telling Hope what he knows she wants to hear. Or at least, Kent wants to believe that he loves Hope. For Kent, Hope is a lovely dream of sweetness and tenderness and goodness and joy that he has longed for in his life.
Kent and Hope kiss and caress each other for several minutes. Hope wonderingly explores Kent’s body with kisses and caresses—his lips, his neck, his strong and muscular shoulders, and his chest. And then, she caresses him intimately. Kent thrills to Hope’s sweetly tentative and intimate touches and he pulls Hope to lay on top of him. Kent kisses Hope’s lips and neck and breasts as he caresses her intimately. Hope is lost within the pleasures of these intimacies. Then Kent lifts Hope’s body up higher—with his hands under her arms–so that his kisses may linger over her beauty and she instinctively moves her legs to either side of his abdomen for balance.
Kent is sitting slightly propped up on the pillows and he guides Hope to sit on top of him and to join her body with his body. Hope thrills to this new sensation of lovemaking with Kent as she matches her loving movements to his in their lovers’ dance. Kent kisses and caresses Hope’s full round breasts as Hope kisses and caresses his head and shoulders. With Hope being on top of Kent in their lovemaking, she feels a little exposed– but Kent’s tenderness and loving attentions quickly assuage any shyness that she might feel. And Hope feels newly pleasurable sensations–as Kent intends her to feel. Again, and again, and again, and again, Hope and Kent kiss and caress and move their bodies in harmony with each other. They are caring and giving lovers–seeking to give and share their love with each other. And then, they each experience a perfect loving bliss of rapturous ecstasy.
Kent: “My darling Hope, I love you so.” Kent says first, without prompting. Kent feels so much joy and so much love with Hope, that he embraces her tenderly as she lies down upon his chest.
Hope: “Oh Kent, I love you with all of my heart.” She sighs contentedly in her happiness.
But, this morning, their lovemaking is a little different. Yes, their lovemaking is more passionate and Hope is a little less shy about being intimate with Kent. However in their passions, Kent forgot to put on the condom that he had brought with him to their bed. But for now, they do not worry about that as Hope lies upon Kent’s chest as they continue to kiss and cuddle for some time after their lovemaking.

“Mr. Romance”, Chapter 7: Discussing Handling Their New Relationship with their Colleagues
Though Kent and Hope might have liked to stay in bed all day together—as if they were on their honeymoon, because their love, and lovemaking, is a new beginning for each of them—they must rise to have breakfast with their colleagues and then go on with their planned activities together at the ski lodge. But now, Kent and Hope must navigate both their newly expanded relationship with each other and how they reveal—or conceal—that relationship with their colleagues. After Hope and Kent shower—separately, or they would never get to breakfast on time—and dress for their day, they talk about what they want to share with their colleagues about their new relationship.
Kent: “Hope Darling, how do you want to handle ‘us’ with regard to our colleagues today.” He says kissing her hand clasped in his as they walk through her hotel suite door and into the hallway. Again, he considerately wants to let Hope decide how she wants to handle the situation.
Hope: “Well Kent Dear, in my mind, our beautiful lovemaking is private—just for us.” She blushes thinking of their loving intimacies last night and this morning and Kent kisses her adoringly as he holds her in his arms in the empty hallway. “But, we can’t act like nothing has happened between us. I mean, ‘Mr. Romance’, I know that you’re the ‘love them and leave them type’.” He pouts out his lips a bit. “But, I’m hoping that you might want to see where our relationship develops.” She says looking at Kent expectantly and lovingly.
Kent: “That is what I want, too, Hope Darling.” He says smiling at her as he kisses her tenderly. “Whew! This is new territory for me—a relationship.” He sighs looking at her nonplussed.
Hope: “Now Kent, you’re not going to get all skittish on me are you?” She asks poking him good naturedly in his ribs.
Kent: “You know Hope? I don’t think so.” He says a bit surprised with himself. “So, let’s just behave like a couple and refuse to answer any of their questions. That will really tick them off.”
Hope: Laughing, she says, “Kent, you really are a pistol.” He laughs also.
Kent: “Hope Darling, I’ll pop into my room and change clothes and then join you downstairs for breakfast with the others.”
Hope: “Okay. I’ll save a seat for you, Kent Dear.”
Kent and Hope kiss each other tenderly one last time before parting. Then Kent heads to his room and Hope heads to the elevator to join their colleagues for breakfast in the hotel restaurant.

“Mr. Romance”, Chapter 8: Kent and Hope have Breakfast Saturday Morning with their Colleagues
Hope can’t stop smiling [(4) right] as she walks into the hotel’s restaurant for breakfast. Hope had an exquisitely loving evening and morning with Kent and they seem to be expanding their relationship from friendly co-workers to developing a romantic relationship–rather than just having a one night stand. And having a loving relationship with Kent is what Hope has wanted for a very long time. Hope sits down next to Sherry, saving a seat for Kent next to her.
Sherry: Noticing Hope’s sunny disposition—despite Hope usually being cheerful—Sherry asks her pointedly. “So, sleep well, Hope?”
Hope: “Like a baby. It must be all of this wintery fresh air.” Hope says trying to change the subject.
Phyllis: “Well, I hope that Kent didn’t keep you up with his snoring. When he crashed on our couch in Milwaukee, not only did he toss his cookies, but he snored, too.”
Hope: “No, I can’t say that I noticed any snoring.” She says smiling sweetly.
Boyd: “Where is Kent?”
Hope: “Oh, he went to his room to change clothes once the bellman brought him a new key card.” She tries to say nonchalantly.
Bob: Then Bob turns up—looking pleased with himself. “Good morning!” And he tries to sit in the chair next to Hope.
Hope: But Hope shoos Bob away. “No Bob, that chair is for Kent.” Sherry, Phyllis, and Boyd notice the pointed tone in Hope’s voice—and wonder.
Bob: “Now, Hope, you’re not mad at me for going off on my own last night are you? It’s not like we’re dating. We just pal around together.”
Hope: “Not at all, Bob. I hope you had a nice evening.” She says smiling sweetly as Bob sits on the other side of Sherry.
Sherry: Weighing in again she says “Yes, we were all just wondering about Hope’s evening since Kent slept in her room last night.”
Hope blushes profusely—because, of course, Kent did ‘sleep’ with her in the biblical sense. Though, their coworkers don’t know that. But Kent turns up to save her from having to respond.
Kent: “Good morning everyone!” He says cheerily as he walks up to the table.
Bob: “So Kent, you slept with Hope last night?” Bob looks at Kent quizzically because Bob hadn’t been able to get anywhere with Hope—though he hadn’t really tried.
Kent: “Crashed on her couch drunk since she had the suite this time.” He says discreetly while sitting in the chair next to Hope and looking at her warmly. “She drew the short straw and had to put up with me.” Kent raises his eyebrows a bit mischievously at Hope as he puts his arm around her shoulders and squeezes them briefly.
Kent: Kent rocks his head back in laughter. Then Kent looks at them and asks bemusedly [(5) right] “Will you people never let me live that down?”
Boyd: “Well Kent, how you would like a drunk colleague throwing up in your hotel room?”
Phyllis: “Now, now. We’re going to be eating breakfast, so let’s switch topics.”
Sherry: “Yes, back to Kent and Hope. Any funny business last night?”
Kent: Kent turns to look at Hope and asks her impishly. “Hope Darling, any funny business?”
Hope: “Nope, not funny at all.” Hope says stressing the ‘p’ sound like Kent does sometimes and giving a little knowing smile to Kent–that Sherry picks up on.
Sherry: “Uh huh.” Sherry eyes Hope and Kent suspiciously.
Kent: “I’m famished! Let’s order.” As he says this, Kent clasps Hope’s hand next to his under the table and gives it a squeeze and she squeezes his hand back. Both Kent and Hope have small knowing smiles on their faces.

“Mr. Romance”, Chapter 9: Kent Teaches Hope How to Ski, Sort of
The general rule of thumb is not to go swimming until at least an hour after eating. Maybe they should have the same prohibition about eating and skiing—just in case. Since Hope is the skiing neophyte of the group, Kent decides to show her the ropes on the bunny hill to humorous results as the others look on. After Hope is suited up in her multi-layered orange rental winter weather outfit and gear [(6) right] from the ski resort’s pro shop, she looks like an overstuffed carrot.
Hope: “Kent, aren’t I supposed to be able to move? She says trying to raise her arms.
Kent: “Yes Hope Darling, you’ve got to learn to work with the layers of clothing you’re wearing and not let it immobilize you.”
Hope: “Easier said than done.” She says looking helplessly at him while tilting her head and smiling.
Kent: He smiles at Hope. “Okay, before we put you on skis, let’s go over some basic body positions.” Hope gives Kent a look—remembering their romantic interludes last night and this morning—that their friends can’t see since Hope is facing away from them. Uncharacteristically, Kent blushes—which their friends can’t see either because it’s cold out and he’s wearing a scarf around his neck and lower face.
Hope: “Kent, my goal is not to break something here.”
Kent: “Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.” Then he whispers to her. “Hope Darling, I won’t have you do anything that you’re not ready for.” Kent says smiling knowingly at Hope. And now she blushes.
Then it really gets amusing when Kent straps Hope into her skis for the first time and she proceeds to fall backwards—pushing the skis out from under her forward and through Kent’s legs, landing her right under Kent looking up at his crotch. Of course, their colleagues all howl with laughter.
Hope: “Aren’t I supposed to be vertical, Kent?” Hope says using Kent’s phrasing from last night.
Kent: “Not a problem, I’ve got you.” Then as Kent tries to lift Hope up, her skis trip him and he falls flat on his face—partially on top of Hope. And not being able to stop himself, Kent gives Hope a quick kiss on her lips.
Sherry: “I knew it!” She jumps up animatedly like a woman who has answered the million dollar question. “Something is up between you two.”
Hope: “Sherry, if you hadn’t noticed, we’re not up, we’re down.” Hope says trying to deflect Sherry’s remark from everyone’s attention with humor. And they all laugh. “Can anyone give us some help here?”
Kent: Under his breath, he says while gazing lovingly at Hope. “Sorry Hope.” And Hope smiles back at him.
After Hope tries a few more times to stand on her skis and she promptly falls down again each time–but at least she doesn’t throw up her breakfast—Hope decides that she’ll give her butt and back a rest for today and relegate her skiing to riding in the sleigh ride this evening after dinner. So Hope and Phyllis and Boyd sit at the ski lodge sipping their hot cocoas while watching Kent, Bob, and Sherry float above their heads on the ski lift as they head out for their ski runs.

“Mr. Romance”, Chapter 10: Kent Shows off his Skiing Prowess to Hope and He has a Spill, Landing Him in the Emergency Room
Kent having told Hope that skiing was a rush—and that he’s good at it, like sex—decides that he has to show off a little as he skies down the slope toward her. Right? Wrong. It turns out that Kent should have quit while he was ahead—meaning while he was on the ground on top of Hope earlier in the day. Because when Kent is almost at the bottom of the hill after his ski run—while waving at Hope—a novice skier cuts in front of him and Kent swerves to avoid him and Kent twists his ankle as he crumples to the ground. Writhing in pain, the ski patrol puts Kent on one of their snow mobile ‘tugs’—and Kent is pulled behind them to the Ski Resort’s lodge and their clinic. Hope holds Kent’s hand and rubs his forehead and cheek as they wait for the doctor to tell them whether his ankle is broken or not. Of course Hope’s attentiveness to Kent and his injury is more than her usual solicitous concern when someone is ill, so the ‘jig is up’ on Hope and Kent’s new relationship.
Bob: “Sorry for your rough landing there, Kent. But, you really should have been watching what was in front of you instead of waving at Hope.”
Hope: “That’s right, Bob. Blame Kent’s injury on me.” Hope is more than a little annoyed with Bob’s remark.
Kent: “Now Bob, it’s not Hope’s fault, it’s mine. Hopefully, my ankle isn’t broken and it’s just a sprain.” He says wincing in pain despite pain killers and an ice pak on his ankle.
Sherry: “I thought you two looked cozier than usual.” She says knowingly looking at Kent and Hope.
Phyllis: “Now stop teasing our Hope. It’s not like she’d change her values in one night and get swept off her feet by ‘Mr. Romance’, here.”
Kent: “Thanks a lot. And what’s with all of this ‘Mr. Romance’ nickname stuff. Am I really that much of a player?”
Boyd: “Kent my boy, seeing you in action lining up your ‘dates’ each night is like watching a renaissance artist at work.” He says wistfully.
Phyllis: “Careful Boyd Dear. You’re sounding a bit too nostalgic for your own bachelor days.”
Sherry: “Come on you two, fess up. You slept with each other last night, right?”
Hope: Again, trying to use humor to deflect attention from the truth, she says overly effusively, “Kent Dear, I’m afraid that they’ve found out our secret. I know that you wanted to be discreet, but our love just can’t be hidden any longer.”
Kent: Getting into the spirit of Hope’s stylized humor, despite his pain, he says, “Well, Hope Darling, at least you were gentle with me.” He bats his eyes like an ingénue and everyone howls with laughter. “Hope, be kind when you remember me—and you will—think of me fondly.” Then Hope leans down and kisses Kent with a ‘stylized’ smooch befitting their humor. Everyone laughs again.
Hope: Then breaking ‘character’ she says “Okay people, enough with the floor show. Now can we get back to the poor guy here and his ankle?” Hope still holds Kent’s hand and rubs his shoulder while gazing at him fondly.
Doctor: Popping around the the clinic exam room’s curtain, the doctor says looking around the room “Mr. Barron?” Kent nods [(7) right] and raises his hand. Although Kent lying on the gurney with an ice pak on his ankle is a dead giveaway that he is the patient—or should be to the doctor. “Your ankle is not broken, just badly sprained. So, you’ll want to wrap it, elevate it, and ice it for the next few days. Then come back and see me on Wednesday. We’ll loan you some crutches on your way out until you can get your own—you’ll need to be off your ankle for a month, and no skiing for two months. The nurse will be in to wrap your ankle for you.” The doctor hands Kent his discharge orders and a prescription for pain and anti-inflammatory medicines, then the doctor leaves with a flourish.
Kent: “Well, I guess it could be worse.”
Bob: “How so”?
Kent: Kent turns to Bob and says clearly annoyed with him. “If I had ‘broken’ my ankle, lunkhead. Hope, how many times did you go out with this guy?”
Hope: “Two movies and he fixed my leaky faucet.”
Sherry: “Oh? …” Sherry says laughingly.
Hope: “That’s not a metaphor Sherry. Bob’s got plumbing skills.” They all chuckle. “Good grief, people. That’s not a metaphor either.” Hope says looking exasperated as Sherry collapses into forty five year old giggles–not pretty.

“Mr. Romance”, Chapter 11: Kent Rests Comfortably Back at the Hotel, in Hope’s Suite
Everyone helps Kent back to their hotel after getting his medicines at the pharmacy and picking up his borrowed crutches. Then, it’s mutually decided that since Hope has the suite that Kent will stay with her and recuperate the next week while the rest of the gang returns home to Chicago. But tonight, Hope gets Kent comfortably situated on the couch in the suite—with his sprained ankle leg elevated [(8) right] and iced–while they eat room service dinner since their colleagues are eating downstairs and then taking the sleigh ride.
Kent: “I’m really sorry that you’re missing the sleigh ride tonight, Hope. I was looking forward to cuddling with you under the blanket on it.”
Hope: “Oh don’t worry about it, Kent. Maybe you’ll feel up to a sleigh ride later in the week.” She smiles sweetly.
Kent: “I hope so, Hope Darling.” He says raising his eyebrows mischievously and brings her hand to his lips and kisses it.
Hope: “Goodness Kent Dear!” She says blushing. “Are you always thinking about making love or is that just a guy thing?”
Kent: “Both.” He smiles impishly and puts his arm around her sitting next to him on the couch and he kisses her cheek and then her neck.
Hope: “Kent Dear, you’ve just sprained your ankle—badly, I might add. I don’t think that you’re going to be ‘up’ for any lovemaking athletics this evening.”
Kent: “Well I don’t know. The pain killers are kicking in and my ankle doesn’t hurt so much.”
Hope: “Right. And you know what the pharmacist said the side effect for the pain killers was don’t you?” She says looking over at Kent who has already fallen asleep and he starts to snore into her neck. Then she bemusedly says out loud with no one awake to hear her. “Like I said, ‘Mr. Romance’, you’re out like a light for the rest of the evening.”
Then Hope smiles as she snuggles up next to Kent under the couch throw blanket for the next hour, until their colleagues return from their sleigh ride. And then they help Hope get the very sleepy Kent to bed. With Bob and Boyd on either side of Kent as he sleepily stands to pee—hoping that he’ll ‘aim’ as Hope admonishes Kent to do. Then, they lay Kent down onto the bed after removing his clothes and icing and elevating his ankle. After their friends leave, Hope puts on her nightgown and slides into bed next to the sleeping Kent. As Hope snuggles up next to Kent, she falls contentedly asleep herself.
