Thorin Thursday: Snow White and the Thorin Dwarfs, 9/13/12 Gratiana Lovelace (Post #269)

The graphic below is a giggle of a t-shirt cartoon from a link shared by Sandra G (Thanks!) on Twitter yesterday/Wednesday.

Cheers!  Grati

And here is my suggested title and ficlet to go along with the cartoon:

Snow White and the Thorin Dwarfs by Gratiana Lovelace

The Thorin Dwarfs found their dear Snow White thus–lying abed, fully dressed, seemingly asleep though they could not awaken her, with a partially eaten apple on the floor beside her.

What could this mean?  This woman creature initially decried their table manners and viewed with suspicion their dishwashing capabilities.  But she remembered all of their Dwarf names and she could tell the Dwarfs apart–and that endeared her to them.

Do you remember all of their Dwarf names?  No peeking below.  This web site should help you with your Dwarf detection:

The three _ori’s were bunk mates of Thorin.

Winning the beard design awards are the two _oin Dwarf dudes.

Mirth and mayhem probably best describe the countenances of the two youngest  _ili Dwarfs.

Rugged individuals would be a kind way of referring to the three B__ur Dwarfs

Finally, for the long and short of it, there were the two __alin Dwarfs.

And  since the Wizard Gandalf the Grey (looking rather blue in the cartoon above) revealed that Snow White could only be awakened from the magic spell she was under by a kiss from Prince Charming, King Thorin channeling his young Prince Thorin visage did the deed.  And Snow White awoke to a slightly scratchy sensation.  Bushy Dwarf beards are rather startling–but provide lovely exfoliation benefits for one’s skin care regimen when kissing one’s favorite Dwarf.  Snap!   And those assembled–to a Dwarf–were all pleased as punch that their dear Snow White had awoken, and the Dwarfs ran for their ale to celebrate.

Snow and T–as she called  her smouldering Middle Earth aged King Thorin–lived happily ever after because Thorin decided that a fresh as a daisy scented soft and warm princess was a more agreeable sleeping companion than the cold hard steel of his sword–or his fellow Dwarf roomies.  Besides, the _ori’s were getting on Thorin’s nerves by hogging the blankets, kicking him in their sleep, and they had the displeasing “stench of sweaty smelly Dwarfs”.

Oh and Bilbo?  He slinked away, cursing that he hadn’t gotten a try at kissing Snow White awake first.  Gandalf had promised Bilbo an adventure, but Bilbo forgot to have it written into the fine print of his contract that “he” gets the girl.  Ah well, he has two more apples left.  So maybe he will find another “precious” forest babe to cast under his spell.  Hmmmm.  Maybe Galadriel is lurking about.  Bilbo thinks that she would definitely be worth a two apple kissing date.  Snap!

The Dwarfs and Snow White graphic is a t-shirt design by Tony Centeno that may be found at   I have no affiliation with the t-shirt designer nor this company.  But it is such a cute t-shirt design that I might have to buy one.  Ha!

And if you need any more help, the Final Dwarf Composite image below shared on TORN (  on July 21, 2011 and found at should make it easier for you

Richard Armitage portraying the Young Prince Thorin in all of his magnificent glory is found at

Richard Armitage portraying the smouldering Middle Earth aged Thorin is quite glorious as well and the image is found at

N.B.:  The above bit of whimsy was written with my tongue firmly in my cheek–awaiting Thorin’s kiss.    Ha!  I have the dress, but ooh!   Where’s a magic apple requiring Thorin to kiss me when you need one?  Ha!

About Gratiana Lovelace

Gratiana Lovelace is my nom de plume for my creative writing and blogging. I write romantic stories in different sub genres. The stories just tumble out of me. My resurgence in creative writing occurred when I viewed the BBC miniseries of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel North & South in February 2010. The exquisitely talented British actor portraying the male lead John Thornton in North & South--Richard Crispin Armitage--became my unofficial muse. I have written over 50 script stories about love--some are fan fiction, but most are original stories--that I am just beginning to share with others on private writer sites, and here on my blog. And as you know, my blog here is also relatively new--since August 2011. But, I'm having fun and I hope you enjoy reading my blog essays and my stories. Cheers! Grati ;-> upd 12/18/11

Love the story AND the Young Prince Thorin – naturally!!! ;) The T-shirt is amazing too! It’s about time ONE of his chaRActers “got the girl”! I surprised myself as I can remember all of the dwarves names! :)

    • Hi Teuchter,
Thanks for your very nice note! That t-shirt is amazing! I also want an RA character to get the nice girl again (and not die). Geraldine for Harry–in The Vicar of Dibley 2006 Christmas Special for those who aren’t familiar with it–was six years ago. That is quite an RA character romantic drought. Ha!
And good for you on remembering all the Dwarf names! Snap!
Thanks for visiting and commenting. Cheers! Grati ;->
