Thorin Thursday: “Thorin Oakenshield’s Heroic Raging Attack upon Azog the Defiler” gifs by Hiddlespeare (reblog), 1/03/13 Gratiana Lovelace (Post #338)

The Hiddlespeare Tumbler has such an amazing sequence of “Thorin Oakenshield’s Heroic Raging Attack upon at Azog the Defiler” gifs that I just had to reblog it here for you today.

Here is the starter gif of “Thorin Oakenshield’s Heroic Raging Attack upon Azog the Defiler” by Hiddlespeare:

This gif is just the tip of the iceberg.  Run, don’t walk to the link below to Hiddlespeare’s post that has the whole beginning of the sequence beautifully captured in a series of multiple gifs:

In addition to the visual clarity, the enhanced color balance and lighting in the gifs–different from what I saw in the THAUJ film–is breathtaking!

Richard Armitage portraying Thorin Oakenshield “The Hobbit:  An Unexpected Journey” convincingly conveyed rage, revenge, heroism in hoping to save his comrades, honor, and courage  as he raced alone to fight Azog in what he could only surmise would be certain death for himself.  Indeed, Thorin would have been killed–beheaded like his grandfather King Thror–were it not for Bilbo, the other Dwarves, and Gandalf’s eagles coming to his aid.  The noble exiled King Thorin–who had sacrificed everything to keep his people together and give them a new life–was rewarded with the loyalty of his comrades who saved his life in return.

Enjoy the gifs!

P.S.  A huge thank you to Sandra G. whose Tumblr reblog of these gifs pointed me to Hiddlespeare’s original post of them.  Here is Sandra’s Sudden Waves tumblr post link reblogging Hiddlespeare’s post:

About Gratiana Lovelace

Gratiana Lovelace is my nom de plume for my creative writing and blogging. I write romantic stories in different sub genres. The stories just tumble out of me. My resurgence in creative writing occurred when I viewed the BBC miniseries of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel North & South in February 2010. The exquisitely talented British actor portraying the male lead John Thornton in North & South--Richard Crispin Armitage--became my unofficial muse. I have written over 50 script stories about love--some are fan fiction, but most are original stories--that I am just beginning to share with others on private writer sites, and here on my blog. And as you know, my blog here is also relatively new--since August 2011. But, I'm having fun and I hope you enjoy reading my blog essays and my stories. Cheers! Grati ;-> upd 12/18/11

Hi Grati went to see The Hobbit last night with a friend & fellow RA fan. Thought it was brillaint & Richard’s performance just blew me away. Not just saying this because I adore Richard but to me he was just perfect for Thorin and those scenes with Azog just showed how driven Thorin was to defend the memory of his grandfather and father. Perfect casting thank you Peter Jackson

    • Hi AJ Daisy,
I couldn’t agree with you more. Richard Armitage is the definitive Thorin Oakenshield–for us and for future generations. RA’s finely nuanced character portrayal of Thorin Oakenshield mesmirizes me every time–and only enhances my admiration of Mr. Armitage’s exquisite acting and storytelling talents. Sir Peter Jackson chose wisely, indeed, when he cast Richard Armitage to portray Thorin Oakenshield! I will second your thanks to him.

I have seen the THAUJ film three times now–in 3D, 2D, and then in 3D HFR (48fps, so vivid and my favorite format!)–and the storytelling, characters, plot, and lush painterly visuals stuns me every time. All of the actors and their character portrayals work well together. The THAUJ film–and RA’s earlier Captain America film in 2011–pulled me back into the theatre viewing experience after years of preferring the convenience of home movie viewing.

I’m so glad that you enjoyed the film, too! Holiday Cheers and Love! Grati;->
