Grati Defects to the “Other” Army!   April 1, 2014  Gratiana Lovelace (Post #540)

It is with a heavy heart that I admit to you and to Richard Armitage [(1) below]–the exquisitely talented British actor, not the other guy–that my fan affections have been swayed by another.  *Grati weeps–but not so much as to ruin her mascara, nor cause nose drool–and dabs a fine linen hankie at the corners of her eyes.*

Whom you might ask has purloined so loyal and dedicated a Richard Armitage admirer as GrahamMcTavish-and-asDwalin-Feb2014onphotobucket-66792_zps7c333e45
myself?  *Grati bats her eyelashes coyly*  It is none other than Mr. Armitage’s The Hobbit films costar, Graham McTavish  (GMT) who portrays Dwalin [(2) right].  Oh the neckage!   *Sighhhh!*

That is correct.  The fifty three year old Scottish rogue in Grati’s collage below [(3) below]–with his deep voice (especially when he trills his R’s) that undoes me, his piercing gaze that makes me melt, and his devilish smile that betokens a wonderfully mischievous spirit–Graham McTavish has stolen my heart.  Seeing GMT’s muscles on display below, can ye blame me?   Sighhhh!  And oh the light dusting of chest hair that further highlights Mr. McTavish’s fit physique! *THUD*  And see?  Graham even tackled Richard at Dwarf Boot Camp in his bid to become my premiere crush.  *swoon*

When I cast Mr. McTavish for the pivotal role of the new character I created of Dr. Cameron Ogilvy, Earl of Airlie in Angus, Scotland, and physician to the Thornton’s in my fan fic, “N&S: John Thornton, Love Lessons”, I had no idea that I would become so entranced with him.  And I love writing for he and his character in my story–as I trrrrill his Rrrrrrr’s in every worrrrrrd that he utterrrrrrrs.

And then there is GMT’s Outlander television role (on Starz, Summer 2014) as Dougal MacKenzie  yet to be broadcast, and I am very much looking forward to it–with the stunning Dougal MacKenzie signature in sepia tone [(4) below top] made by Outlander fan Betsy A. Pudliner, and my simple collage homage [(5) below bottom] below that:

So!  Have I convinced you that I transferred my affections from the exquisitely talented and devastatingly handsome Richard Armitage to the equally engaging Graham McTavish?

April Fools!  I could never give up admiring British actor Richard Armitage and his moving character portrayals and riveting storytelling!

P.S. However, I sincerely do also admire Graham McTavish.  Sighhhh!  In my way of thinking, I can have two crushes existing simultaneously.  At least, that is the rationalization I am using at the moment.  Ha!   And if Richard Armitage were to stop waxing his chest–if he already hasn’t–then that would firmly cement him as my top choice forever.   *THUD*

There is something about mature men, such as the ever  youthful Richard Armitage (42.75 going on 36) and the seasoned Graham McTavish that makes my heart go pitty pat.  The teeny boppers can swoon over Hobbit heartthrobs  Dean O’Gorman (who portrays Fili) Fili-DeanOGorman-andKili-AidanTurner_byJamesFisher2011_Mar3114NewLineProductions-sharedvia-IMDBand Aidan Turner (who portrays Kili and who just won an Empire 2014 Best Male Newcomer Award last Sunday;  Congrats!).  I call Fili and Kili the “mirth & mayhem twins” for their usual The Hobbit films character portrait [(6) right] facial expressions.  Fili and Kili are nice lads, but too young for me–their human incarnations anyway–because anyone who is young enough to possibly have been gestated by me (Aidan only) just isn’t on my radar.    Ha!

So, Richard Armitage [(7) right, in his smouldering incarnation as Thorin Oakenshield] 64-Thorin2-OfficialHobbitMovieGuide_Apr0114ranetremains my top fan admiration–watch him graciously accept The Hobbit:  The Desolation of Smaug’s Empire 2014 Award for Best SciFi/Fantasy film of 2013 here–with Graham McTavish rising in my esteem.

Oh dear!   Sorry Graham, but I just thought of Hugh Jackman and Gerard Butler, too!  *Grati bites her lower lip*  Well, I guess that the secondary and tertiary tiers of my fan admirations will just have to have multiple residents. *wink*  I’m an all inclusive kind of girl.  The more the merrier. Ha!

Cheers!   Grati  ;->

About Gratiana Lovelace

Gratiana Lovelace is my nom de plume for my creative writing and blogging. I write romantic stories in different sub genres. The stories just tumble out of me. My resurgence in creative writing occurred when I viewed the BBC miniseries of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel North & South in February 2010. The exquisitely talented British actor portraying the male lead John Thornton in North & South--Richard Crispin Armitage--became my unofficial muse. I have written over 50 script stories about love--some are fan fiction, but most are original stories--that I am just beginning to share with others on private writer sites, and here on my blog. And as you know, my blog here is also relatively new--since August 2011. But, I'm having fun and I hope you enjoy reading my blog essays and my stories. Cheers! Grati ;-> upd 12/18/11

    You really had me going! Yep, totally fell for it. But who could blame you? You didn’t mention that hairless coconut sitting atop that neckage in your list of sexy traits. We, the lucky ones, know the pleasurable delights which a bald man can trot out (picking up speed right out of the gate ***wink wink***). I almost feel sorry for the rest of you. Almost. :D

    • Hi Kitty,
      Thanks for your nice note! I “really” had you going? Well, my prior gushing about Mr. McTavish must have sunk in. Ha!

      And I agree with you about closely cropped male heads. I had to recently shave off my hubby’s natural curls since he is a security guard and they ask them to keep their hair short. I do so miss running my fingers through his hair. But he has a very nice head shape. *wink* So I get to have it both ways. Ha!

      Cheers! Grati ;->

      I don’t think I’ve made any secret of the fact that Graham has been my bit on the side crush for a couple of years. In fact when Servetus asked the hypothetical question of what you’d fight with RA about my answer was that he’d harrumph in the corner while I sighed about how dreamy McTavish is. :)

      • Welcome to the GMT Appreciation Society! When I was “researching” images of Graham McTavish for my Dr. Cameron Ogilvy role, the muscles pictures made my eyes pop out. Ha!

        And for true McTavites, you should really visit the McTavish Army web site. They have a gif of him walking away that is heart palpitating. Ha! Here is that link (go to media, I can’t find the exact link, but it isthere):

  5. P.S. I really do admire Graham McTavish. What’s not to love? Ha! But Richard Armitage has first place in my heart (next to my hubby, of course), as this early poem blog post of mine attests to:
