What if someone threw a celebratory party for a project that you have worked on for three years of real physical hardship and emotional family separations, and they didn’t invite you to the party? Unthinkable!
Update #1: And here is Kiwi Actor John Callen’s announcement of that as shared by RichardArmitage France on FB:
https://www.facebook.com/richardarmitage.france/posts/342733339221298
Well, The One Ring Net (TORN) post tells of the Kiwi Dwarf actors not being invited by Warner Bros Pictures to the TH3BOFA ‘s London World Premiere due to budgetary constraints. And thanks to VioletDutchBlogger for the heads up!
Update #2 from TORN: Kiwi Dwarves set to attend final Hobbit Premiere in Los Angeles
“Please note: at the request of the film production, we’ve removed our earlier story as it was based upon now out-of-date information.”
Below, as a reminder, is the “Company of Thorin Oakenshield” as Gandalf called them in THAUJ (Image courtesy of www.RichardArmitageNet.com ):
Who are these wonderful Kiwi Actors? I may not have known about Jed Brophy, Stephen Hunter, Dean O’Gorman, William Kirchner, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, and John Callen before The Hobbit films, but I certainly do now. Here is a nice article about them (Thanks to RA-US for the link!):
http://media.newzealand.com/en/story-ideas/seven-kiwi-dwarves-shine-in-the-hobbit-trilogy/
So let’s hope that the cheerful video announcement pasted below about The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies World Premiere in London betokens an even more joyous event with the inclusion of the Kiwi Dwarves at the London Premiere:
“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies – World Premiere in London – Official Announcement” by Warner Bros. UK
The Dwarves weren’t the varsity team versus the junior varsity team, they weren’t part time extra help workers, they weren’t even the understudies. They were and are part of the Dwarven group on a quest. They started together and they should finish together–at the World Premiere in London.
So let’s hope that Warner Bros. Pictures opens their purse strings to pop for seven more flights from New Zealand to London and hotel accommodations for the seven Kiwi actors.
Otherwise, we fans–perhaps a sixth army?– might come to think of the THBOFA acronym as referring to:
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Full Attendance by all the Dwarves
Additional Reference
It’s mind-boggling. I feel so bad for them. What can the people at Warner Bros be thinking?

True jholland,
Bad publicity is so much more expensive than WB being gracious and inviting and paying for the Kiwi Actor Dwarves to attend the London World Premiere of THBOFA.
Thanks for visiting and commenting. Cheers! Grati ;->

Disgusting. Warners have reaped the profits from this trilogy now they do not want to pay probably around $50 to 100k max to send a crucial group of actors to UK especially Dean O’Gorman and the other dwarves.

Now they say they’re sending the Kiwis to L.A. – Forgot to tell them? Second Prize, I think, but something.

A little consolation but how can Fili and Kili not be together with Thorin in London. Absolute rubbish by Warners.

Spot on! And as a reminder to WB, Fili did not leave his ailing brother at Laketown. Fili joined him.
And he and the others should join the London Premiere.

Hi Perry, I agree with you about the lame LA premiere invitation as being second rate. Who is doing damage control at WB? Not a Hobbit Triology of films fan is my guess.

Hi Wendy,
WB might do well consider that their “bottom line” is driven by goodwill as much as it is by good storytelling.

Hi armitagebesotted, Thanks for your note! And yes indeed! Love that graphic you made to show proportions of worldwide earnings versus the cost of sending 7 Kiwi Actor Dwarves to London! I linked RAFrenzy’s post that it ws in down below yesterday. But thanks for sharing the link up here as well. Cheers! Grati ;->

Ah, I just confirmed my suspicion that Graham McTavish was one of the dwarves! I liked him and Fili the best :) After Thorin of course!

Hi linnetmoss,
Graham McTavish as Dwalin in the TH films is one of my faves, too! And his turn as Dougal MacKenzie in the Outlander tv series is fantastic!

Yes, I saw the first ep of Outlander and loved it (the original book is a longtime favorite!). Don’t have Starz, so have to wait for the DVD to see the rest!

Hi linnetmoss,
I didn’t have Starz either. But or $10 per month, I was able to add it to my existing cable package as an add on. It was well worth it–to be able to see the Oulander series and enjoy other movies, like “Saving Mrs. Banks”. Other than this and Downton Abbey, I don’t watch television. Ha!

Yes, I would like to see “Saving Mrs. Banks” too! I watch very little TV but have Netflix and Roku so I can rent movies.

Brilliant!! TBofFA is much better than TBoFA as a title anyway. I think the LA thing is obviously a bit of frantic backpedaling. Still disgraceful, WB. LA’s an improvement over “order in a pizza, you guys, and celebrate with us AT HOME”… but still, it’s stupid mismanagement of some very valuable assets. Why even go to the trouble of creating 13 separate Dwarf identities if they were really only Thorin, Kili, Dwalin, Balin, and mumblemumblemumbleSomeOtherGuys?

Hi Christine Na’imah,
Thanks for your nice note! Let’s hope that WB reconsiders and extends a gracious invitation to the seven Kiwi Dwarven actors. And WB should pay for their flight and hotel accommodations should be first rate, to truly make amends.
Thanks for visiting and commenting! Cheers! Grati ;->
P.S. I knew what you meant about the acronym. Ha!

Nov. 01, 2014–TORN now reporting that WB intended to include the Kiwi Actor Dwarves at the final premiere in LA. Oh really? They should still be invited and hosted to attend the London World Premiere, IMHO.

WB asked and TORN consented to removing their earlier post. So I have insert an update in my essay above edreflecting that.
