As you know, I am quite fond of the exquisitely talented British Actor Richard Armitage’s 
[portrait by Sarah Dunn in 2014, right]–I should just start abbreviating that as TETBARA, Ha!– character of Sir Guy of Gisborne.
Heck! I have a trilogy of stories built around him–Sir Guy that is–with Book 3 “Sir Guy’s Atonement” that I’m currently serializing. And I have an unrelated to that story line Sir Guy short story that I had excerpted here a while back that I have now finished and am waiting until the first trilogy ends to serialize it–but after a few of my contemporary era stories are serialized.
But I was not always as enamored of the tall dark man in leather, Sir Guy. Shocker! I warmed up to him and his angsty endearing hopeful storyline. Yes, hopeful. Sir Guy wanted to be a better man–and in the end, he was. I was hooked. Hey, I watched the whole series of 39 episodes via iTunes episode rentals–that is true dedication since the download took forever each time. I didn’t have DSL back then, just dial up.
Then I bought the Robin Hood boxed set of all three years of the series and I was a very happy Fangirl. And though my first Richard Armitage character love was Richard Armitage’s John Thornton in North & South (BBC 2004) when I first experienced it in February 2010, I have come around to Sir Guy. Oh Dearies, I’m all in! Ha!

Guy/Richard in 2009’s Robin Hood series 3 is gorgeous in this portrait! Hair you can run your fingers through, brightly shining blue eyes, Roman nose you would love to nuzzle, chiseled jaw with stubble, and a hint of muscular neckage underneath his leather jacket, waiting to be nibbled. Sighhhh! He is beautiful–the epitome of male handsomeness!
And the talented Mabelalexa shares more than just Richard Armitage’s Guy character portrait edits on her tumblr. There are John Porter and John Thornton images, too. And many others–stills and gifs. *Grati smiles gleefully*

For some Guy is a bit of an acquired taste, but he’s really irresistible in that picture… Oh, and mabelalexa’s tumblr is a true treasure trove!

Hi Guylty,
I think you may be right about Sir Guy. The first few episodes in Robin hood Series one, Guy was quite despicable. And Episode 4 Parenthood where Guy supposed left his son born of the kitchen maid in the woods to die? That seemed beyond the pale–to have been Guy’s doing. So in my “Guy’s Rose” story, I blamed that on Sheriff Vasey. Ha!

Yeah, they didn’t really seem to know what to do with Sir Guy – and maybe they also copped on that the actor was providing quite an attraction in the series – and changed things around. I always hated the storyline about the baby left in the woods, just didn’t seem congruous.

And Richard Armitage embued his character of Sir Guy of Gisborne with nuanced shadings of character–that were not initially in the script–and he made Guy into a fully fleshed out person.
