Fun Day Sunday: Dreaming of the Spooks Movie with Richard Armitage, May 17, 2015 Gratiana Lovelace (Post #748)

Love this four part Empire Online interview article with the cast of Spooks–past, present, and future!

TETBA Richard Armitage (who portrayed Lucas North) quote excerpts from Empire Online Interview, Part 3:

“Armitage: Fans didn’t like [the Lucas North/John Bateman twist]. They were very upset about that turnaround. I feel like they felt like the rug was being pulled out from under their feet. But I remember sitting down with (producer) Andrew Woodhead before we went into series nine and he said, “We’ve got this crazy idea for the character, what do you think?” and I said, “Yeah, do it!”” “

“Armitage: I was always living with the hope that he hadn’t died (laughs). He could be out there, trying to infiltrate the CIA.”

To that I/Grati say a resounding and rapturous–a  la When Harry Met Sally.  Yes!  Yes!   Yes!   See!   My in the works fan fic “Lucas, True North” would even have RA’s support. Ha! Here is where I started my thoughts on this fan fic with a ficlet.

And were the Spooks movie people to cast Richard Armitage in it as a returned Lucas North/ John Bateman? I am 99% certain his loyal fans would see it in droves!  I would. Think of the great drama they could excite between Harry Pearce and Lucas North. Sounds like box office bonanza to me.

Thanks to RANet (www.RichardArmitageNet.com) for the link–and pointing out that Richard’s quotes appear mostly in parts 2 & 3.

Have a gReAt day!

P.S. Whew!  Three posts, three days in a row.  I know. Grati is going crazy.  Well, my next “Sir Guy’s Atonement” chapter  post will be Monday–making it four for four.  What with the kitchen faucet having to be replaced on Saturday–necessitating a cleanup due to the water leakage–and spending several hours working at the office Saturday, too, I’m tuckered out.  But when the mood and muse strike, I’m just a gabby girl.  Ha!

About Gratiana Lovelace

Gratiana Lovelace is my nom de plume for my creative writing and blogging. I write romantic stories in different sub genres. The stories just tumble out of me. My resurgence in creative writing occurred when I viewed the BBC miniseries of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel North & South in February 2010. The exquisitely talented British actor portraying the male lead John Thornton in North & South--Richard Crispin Armitage--became my unofficial muse. I have written over 50 script stories about love--some are fan fiction, but most are original stories--that I am just beginning to share with others on private writer sites, and here on my blog. And as you know, my blog here is also relatively new--since August 2011. But, I'm having fun and I hope you enjoy reading my blog essays and my stories. Cheers! Grati ;-> upd 12/18/11

  1. May 17, 2015–Dear Readers,
Just a quick mention that Dear Guylty at her Guylty Pleasure blog is hosting an auction of three of her RA Pocket Shrines (RAPS) for charity to raise funds for Nepal Earthquake relief.

What is an “RA Pocket Shrine” you may ask? They are sublime artistic cReAtions of hers that you may tuck into your pocket–or purse–to pop open and admire Mr. A. She has oodles of designs, all original–I think she has made over 75 RAPS at this point.

You may find more information here about Guylty’s RAPS and her charity auction:

    Cheers! Grati ;->

P.S. And here is a pix of one of the RAPS she is auctioning off. I am so bidding on this one. Ha!

I.Love.Spooks. And I miss it terribly since Netflix removed it from their menu. I thank Richard Armitage for introducing me to that fabulous series. I watched it, at first, only b/c RA was in season 7 (pretty sure I had to play catch-up until I was current w/ series 8); but I was hooked! I went back to the beginning with Tom Quinn (Matthew Macfadyen), Danny Hunter (David Oyelowo – I wept bitterly when his character died such a noble death), Zoe Reynolds (Keeley Hawes) and always, always, always Harry Pearce. I was so excited to learn that Spooks, The Greater Good was being released on Mother’s Day weekend. Our older daughter was coming home and I was looking forward to seeing Sir Harry on the big screen with her. My excitement was short-lived, though when I learned that STGG would not be released in the US – boohoooooo. Fingers crossed for the dvd release (hope it isn’t one of those releases that will not play on my dvd). I hope the movie does well and will be followed by more installments, possibly one that will feature the mysterious return of John Bateman / Lucas North.

    • Hi Kitty, Thanks for visiting and commenting–twice! Ha! And if the dvd does come out under a different region code, you can always watch it using the VLC software–which usually is a free download. Cheers! Grati ;->

I didn’t phrase that correctly – my bad. I didn’t mean to imply that my daughter would be on the big screen w/ Sir Harry but that I would be (well would have been if the movie had been released in the US) seeing the movie with her. I should proof read before I publish. (poopeedoo)

  5. I would most definitely see it…Bateman/no Bateman…I’d see it and I’d be first in line, if possible.

    • Hi crystalchandlyre, I think for a lot of people, Spooks became must see tv. And its gritty stories interspersed with the human drama of its agents wrestling with their consciences made it a cut above the usual shoot em up spy show. Hope you get a good seat when you see the film.
