Thanks to Violet DB and Teresa A. for sharing the link in Facebook
which mentions two recent films of the exquisitely talented British actor Richard Armitage’s (left, by Variety, courtesy of Fernanda M., Thanks!) that are going to the 2016 Cannes Film Festival (logo right), to possibly find distribution deals— Pilgrimage, and Brain on Fire !
And thanks to the Scannain Irish for Movies site which posted the article about the many Irish films heading to the 2016 Cannes Festival May 11 – 22:
“#IRISHABROAD: BIG IRISH CONTINGENT HEADS TO 2016 CANNES FILM FESTIVAL, by Niall Murphy
A big Irish contingent is heading to the Croisette this year, with a number of Irish films screening and selling at the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film.
Seven Irish films will screen at the Marché for prospective buyers; …
… [And though not among the films listed to be screened, yet …]
These will be joined by more Irish films that will be attempting to make international distribution deals, including: … Gerard Barrett’s drama Brain On Fire, … Brendan Muldowney’s epic Pilgrimage, …”

And the Cannes Film Festival! Well, what with French wine probably in abundance, good bread and other wonderful foods, dancing to all hours (right, via RAnet), art, literature, culture, sun, sand, and sea, etc., might we see Richard Armitage in attendance wearing:
1) another gorgeous tux like his 2012 THAUJ London Premiere tux? (below via Glamour UK’s Sexiest Man in 2014 poll—Richard Armitage was #16!)
2) a casually elegant and chic open collared dress shirt and suit? Sighhhh! (below, at the July 2011 Captain America NYC premiere, Thanks to RAnet)
3) a stereotyped image of the French and see Richard embracing France–as the facetious manip that someone made (below shared by I Want to be a Pin up)?
Either way, let’s hope that Richard’s two films Brain on Fire and Pilgrimage are able to garner enough interest at Cannes to make their international distribution deals.
I, for one, hope to see both of these films at some point in the U.S. And I’m guessing that the gritty action adventure middle ages period drama Pilgrimage will be a great date movie for my hubby and I! Snap!
In the meantime, Vive la France!

Thank you as always for your posts and links. I sure hope something wonderful comes out of the Cannes Film Festival for Richard. I don’t know about anyone else, but I just feel like life has been one long drought after the Hobbit series, since nothing has been released in U.S. I was hoping “Sleepwalker” would get released (2014) but as far as I can tell it wasn’t anywhere. So the law of averages has to come through somewhere.

Hi Irish Witch, Thanks for your nice note about my post! Glad that you enjoyed it! I’m also hoping for new Richard Armitage projects to play in the U.S.–since The Hobbit films were also my last new views of him as well. And for his sake, I hope that these films do get a film distribution–then a dvd later. It is disappointing that Urban and the Shed Crew seems to be in limbo for now. At least the two films mentioned above–Pilgrimage and Brain on Fire– will have some networking opportunities at Cannes. Cheers! Grati ;->
